An alternative to mounted sconces

My house is chock full of Sunnex reading lamps, each family member has their very own bedside Sunnex reading lamp and there's a floor standing one in the living room. I first saw this many years ago in the Levenger catalog and became intrigued when I discovered they had a local distributor in Natick. Sunnex is a manufacture of precision lighting instruments most often used in medical and industrial applications. There is no better reading light for aging eyes and I have grown to appreciate their sleek, industrial design.

I am thinking using a pair of Sunnex lamps for sconces like the ones pictured above, not an inexpensive alternative but very cool looking.
